Chocolate fondue was created by a Swiss-born Chef named Konrad (Konni) Egli. For this innovative dessert service, each guest was served an accompaniment of pastries, meringues, cubes of cake, various fruits including small fresh strawberries (sometimes wild strawberries when Konni could get them) to dip into the decadent melted chocolate. Chocolate and strawberries continues to be a classic favourite among young and old alike.
